Church Family,Isn't SUMMERTIME wonderful? Be sure to enjoy the last days of this wonderful season as we prepare to return to the scheduled life once again. Children's Choir will resume on Sunday morning August 29th at 9 a.m. Hope to see many of you back again this year for some new music and fun together! When we receive the new bus, we will plan a trip to Kansas City and enjoy a musical together. Sharing your voices with the congregation brings alot of happiness and joy to the people here on Sunday morning. If you haven't been a part of us before, we welcome YOU into the choir time on Sunday mornings. While it is a sacrifice and a bit difficult to come to church so early, the rewards of seeing all the people and experiencing a more intimate time during Sunday School with your friends is a great payoff! EVERYWOMAN MATTERS will resume of the first Wednesday morning of September. We will be changing the time to 10 a.m. until noon this year. We hope many of you can make it for our weekly times of sharing and transformation. This October we will begin a Bible Study time for those who have shared an interest in doing this work together. We will also begin planning for our first EVERYWOMAN MATTERS DAY to begin raising funds for scholarship money for the upcoming GENERAL ASSEMBLY in July 2011. We have a full year of delightful times ahead. Be sure and join us on Wednesday mornings for EVERYWOMAN MATTERS. Look for sign-up sheets for our new DINNERS FOR SIX fall time fun fellowship opportunity. The goal is to sign up as singles and couples with others to make up a group of six to share dinner with in your homes for three months time. The group of six will decide one time for each month of September, October, and November to eat and fellowship together. Decisions that the group will need to make will be: Who will host? What will people bring to share? Are children welcome to join in the fun? What day will work for everyone? What time will we gather? Please sign up with people YOU DON'T KNOW very well. This is being created to assist in people GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER better. Our Family of Faith is growing, and we need to be introduced to our new members. This is a creative and delightful way to learn about each other in a more real manner. I encourage each of you to pray about opening your hearts and homes to NEW faces. If this is successful, we will repeat in the months of February, March, and April with a new list of friends. October brings two delightful events that many of you will want to plan to attend. October 8th, 9th, and 10th will be our REGIONAL ASSEMBLY to be held in Jefferson City. As part of that time there will be an overnight for the Youth. We are looking for volunteers to assist in committing to being with the Youth during this time, as Ron and I will be going to workshops with other ministers from the Region. All are welcome to this wonderful event. Be sure and check it out on the NWArea Website. Another October event will be the Festival of Sharing that is held in Sedalia on October 15th and 16th. Ron and I will be taking a van full of Youth to the overnight Youth Rally where the youth will be working to provide food and care packages to those who experience loss and devastation both around our nation and our world. This is a great time for the youth to reconnect with their friends in the Region that they met at camp and the Regional Assembly. We will all enjoy the Quilt Auction, some great time of Worship, and excellent fellowship opportunities. Please jot these two important weekends on your calendars now!! The CWF needs your support in supplying care kits for this event. If you want to know more about this, please speak with EDITH GORDON, CWF President, for good information about the FESTIVAL OF SHARING. Blessings upon your month of August. May you be intensely aware of your purpose on this planet that GOD has called you to embrace. Blessings and Joy, Louise Ann, Family Minister |

Let the Children Come
Sunday School
9:30 -10:20 am
First Christian Church
“Let the Children Come” Sunday School uses a sensorimotor style of storytelling as a primary means for encountering God, so God is experienced, not just learned about. Engaging their imaginations, children respond to Biblical stories through continued working with the story figures and art materials. Because they do this through age-appropriate working centers, this class can meet the needs of children ages 3 – 8.
The sacred structure of this time entails love, security, appropriate freedom, continuity, order and meaning which guides young children to find the quiet place within where they meet God in wonder. This will be held in the classroom next to the “Builders.” Please contact the teacher, Louise Ann, to enroll your child or serve as an adult volunteer, 734-4020.
